Ceramics and Porcelain – Arts and Crafts in the Augarten

Discover the diversity of contemporary ceramic art in all its facets, experience the magic of porcelain manufacture at first hand, and try your hand at it yourself. All this and more is offered for the first time from 10 am to 7 pm on 25 to 27 September 2015 next to the traditional Vienna Porcelain Manufactory Augarten.
Inspired and fascinated by the beauty and vitality of clay, artists from Austria and other countries will be presenting a selection of ceramic works throughout a weekend at the end of September. The objects range from works of art to elegant tableware and household items, plates and cups with gold and platinum trimming, precious vases made of Limoges porcelain and delicate Raku statues based on a firing technique developed in the sixteenth century in Japan to make bowls for the Japanese tea ceremony. Regardless of the technique or finishing, all of the objects have one thing in common: they are unique hand-made designs. Existing and would-be connoisseurs and collectors of modern ceramic art are sure to find something of interest. The experts from the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory Augarten also look forward to demonstrating their ceramic painting expertise.
From now on, visitors from all over the world will meet at the Arts and Crafts Market in the Augarten twice a year – in September and June.
