Star-Tenor Rolando Villazón designs exclusive mocha-cups
In May 1782, Wolfgang Amade Mozart conducted the first of the famous morning concerts at Augarten castle in Vienna.
Now this genius’s connection with Augarten is re-established by star-tenor Rolando Villazón, director of the world famous Mozart Week, which has been hosted by the international foundation Mozarteum since 1956. The opera singer designed an exclusive mocha-cup for the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory Augarten, which is located in Augarten castle.
In the centre of Rolando Villazón’s design is (not surprisingly) Mozart himself, who seems to embrace the whole world with his music.
The mocha-cup brings an additional masterpiece to life – in accord with this year’s slogan of Mozart Week “Mozart lives“.
By putting Mozart’s exceptional talent in the centre of his design, the Mexican-French star-tenor, author, and highly gifted illustrator of Austrian decent, creates an artistic bond between Mozart, the foundation Mozarteum, Augarten castle and the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory Augarten.
The charming, whimsical and world-hugging mocha-cups designed by Rolando Villazón are now available as a limited edition in Augarten Shops in Salzburg, Vienna and Linz and at the museum shops of Mozart’s Birthplace and Mozart’s Residence in Salzburg. They are also available online at augarten.com.
