Ena / Ena Orient

Sugar bowl, with malayan head, 0,30l

This delicately designed sugar bowl from Ena’s 1930s series blends a modern porcelain design with a delicately crafted figurine head as a symbol of the time’s utter fascination for the Orient, particularly countries with which trade routes were being established. It is a delicately handcrafted piece packed with history.

Additionally, one should note that it was designed by a powerful female artist of the 1930s, who along with a handful of other female porcelain artists, was able to open a new artistic pathway for women all the while pushing beyond the traditional scenes and styles of the porcelain craft.
