The entire 18th century was enthusiastic about the fashion for Chinoiserie. Based on the coveted porcelains from East Asia and the enticing travelogues from China, Europe dreamed up a blissful image of the distant empire that inspired all the arts, including porcelain painting. Since 1718, Viennese porcelain has been decorated with the fanciful garden scenes, rich florals and magnificent gold accents.
